The Beginning of SICKAF..........

The SICKAF COVID-19 Virtual NA Meeting was formed at the end of 2019. It began as an in-person meeting at a small spot in Orange, California. When COVID hit, the members pulled together to bring the meeting online. They set up the Zoom account, created a Venmo account to manage contributions, wrote the scripts, and assigned commitments to keep everything running smoothly. One of the founders, Markoni, designed all the slides used in the meetings, created the official SICKAF logos, and published the meeting on the Orange County NA website.

From there, the meeting really took off. Every night for an hour and a half, members from all over gathered virtually to share, connect, and recover together. Different formats for each night kept the meetings fresh and engaging—some nights focused on speaker shares, others on readings, step work, or open discussion. Word spread quickly, and what began as a handful of members grew into a vibrant online fellowship. People showed up early, stayed late, and built real bonds. The consistency of SICKAF—meeting every single night—gave members a sense of stability during an unstable time. It became a place where addicts felt at home, no matter where in the world they were logging in from.

By the end of 2022, the last of the original Trusted Servants had moved on. That was the turning point. The meeting could have faded away, but instead, Jacki stepped in and took on the responsibility of keeping SICKAF alive. It wasn’t easy—at first, she held the weight of the meeting almost entirely on her own. She managed the Zoom, handled the Venmo, kept track of the scripts, and filled commitments when there was no one else to do it. She spent countless hours piecing things back together, reaching out for support, and making sure the doors of SICKAF never closed. Her dedication kept the meeting running without a single interruption, and little by little, new Trusted Servants came forward to help carry the load.

Over the years that followed, SICKAF grew into more than just a meeting—it became a lifeline. It welcomed newcomers logging in to their very first NA meeting, addicts with decades of clean time, and those who had drifted away and were ready to come back. To support members, literature and keytags were mailed out, and later, stickers and SICKAF swag were added to those milestone packages. Every clean time celebration, no matter how big or small, was honored and made special.

Now, five years later, SICKAF is stronger than ever. We continue to run nightly for an hour and a half, and today we have 15 Trusted Servants working together to keep things moving smoothly. The meeting has grown into a true community—one that has weathered change, supported countless addicts, and proven the power of NA unity. We’ve watched members pick up their first 30-day keytag, and we’ve celebrated as others reached multiple years clean. The fact that SICKAF not only survived but has thrived is a testament to the love, commitment, and spirit of recovery that lives here.

And of course, we still have our signature line…… !!

"If you are new to NA or feel like you need to talk to someone, feel free to do so via the chat window or….. ........AFTER!!!…… the meeting."

We welcome everyone seeking recovery—and we can’t wait to see what the next five years will bring.
